BETTER West Alabama

West Alabama Regional Commission was awarded $400,000 from the U.S. Economic Development Association’s CARES Act Recovery Assistance in support of its BETTER (Bringing Economic Tools To Enrich and Revitalize) West Alabama initiative in July of 2020. The two-year project addressed studying the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the region and carrying out activities to improve resilience. By engaging local leaders, businesses and industries, BETTER West Alabama provided programs and tools to stabilize and rebuild the economy in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens and Tuscaloosa counties.
