The Tuscaloosa Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will hold its annual training session on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the offices of the West Alabama Regional Commission (WARC). The Commission is located at 4200 Highway 69 North, Northport, Alabama. No meal will be served. However, attendees are invited to bring their lunch. There is no charge for the training.

The training session will serve as an introduction to anyone unfamiliar with the MPO process and as a refresher to those more experienced. The MPO determines how federal highway and transit funds are used in Tuscaloosa County. Handouts from each presentation will be provided to meeting attendees.

Three speakers will cover the basics of the MPO planning process. Jimmy Carroll, representing the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), will explain state and federal funding programs. Clint Andrews from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will discuss the federal regulations that guide the planning process. David Norris with the West Alabama Regional Commission will describe the operation of the Tuscaloosa Area MPO and summarize the life of a transportation project.

The training session is open to the public. Anyone requiring special assistance should contact the WARC at least 48 hours prior to the day of the meeting.
